Kim_McMullenRecently, The Princeton Review published a book entitled, The Best 300 Professors, which provides profiles of inspirational and challenging professors and students' quotes about the way these professors changed their lives.

Last month, I started a blog series called "Professor of the Month" since many of you out there are interested in attending the schools listed in the book, and it would be nice for you to get a peek at one of the professors from whom you may be learning. Plus, it's valuable to understand the SAT or ACT test scores that will get you into these schools!

From The Best 300 Professors:

Professor of English, Kim McMullen - Kenyon College

"Kim McMullen, a professor of English at Kenyon College, inspires students to analyze literature and culture with ' sophistication, sensitivity, and subtlety.' In classes such as Imaginary Homelands (an introduction to literature and analytic writing, thematically based in a range of postcolonial texts), 20th-Century Irish Literature, and Texting; Reading Like an English Major, she 'keeps the classroom walls permeable,' using conversations over coffee or field trips during a study abroad program, or a community-wide marathon reading of Ulysses (involving over 150 different readers and lasting 28 hours) to broaden and energize the discussion." One of her students says, "If there were stenographers in class every lecture of hers could be publishable."

If you think you may be heading to Kenyon College to sit under Professor McMullen's instruction, check out these facts:

Scores for Kenyon College:

Interested in an English major or minor at this prestigious school? Consider taking the  SAT Literature Subject Test to prove your competence, and plan to knock your SAT Critical Reading or ACT English score out of the park, too. Entering freshmen in the top 25th percentile are scoring around 740 for Critical Reading on the SAT and around a 32 for ACT English!
