You'd never catapult yourself into a swimming pool without filling it up, would you?
Or go for a jog without sneakers?
Or try out for American Idol without years and years of singing practice? Well, that's debatable, I guess.
So why in the world would you run out and purchase a study book for that huge standardized test you have looming over your head without doing a little bit of preparation first?
Makes no sense to me either.
There is a process that goes into prepping for any standardized test. There are test prep steps you have to take before you purchase the book, hire the tutor, take the class, or compile a lengthy cheat sheet. (I don't recommend the last one, by the way.) If you follow this process, your chances of getting that high SAT, GRE, GMAT - fill in the blank - score you want head skyward by a significant margin.
So, whether you need to get out the hose, lace up the sneakers, sign up for the nearest vocal coach, or read more about test prep steps before you buy, prepare yourself for whatever it is you're reaching toward today.
Your skull, soles of your feet, American listeners, and test scores will thank you.
