Consider Taking the ACT Test

You may want to consider taking the ACT Test. It seems to suit you! Here's why:

People who score well on the ACT are often great at school. Since the ACT tests your aptitude for the retention of knowledge you learned in school, you'll score better on this test than the SAT if you were to take each of them cold. It's better to prepare, though! You'll score even higher.

Are you good at interpreting scientific charts and graphs?

The SAT has no Science section; the ACT test does. If you're confident in your ability to interpret Science figures, then take the ACT Test.

Do you have a short attention span?

The ACT is a little easier on someone with a short attention span, because it offers more breaks for your brain. Since it has four sections and an optional fifth instead of the three on the SAT, you'll have different types of questions and different content to focus on more often.

What time frame do you need to test?

If you're speedy with the question and answers, then the ACT may be up your alley. The ACT offers less time per question than the SAT.

Do you know basic trigonometry?

The ACT tests basic trigonometry, and the SAT does not. If you paid attention during Advanced Math, then by all means, dive into the ACT.

Do you mind a guessing penalty?

If you take the SAT, you'll be penalized ¼ point if you answer a question incorrectly. The ACT allows you to guess freely, because you're not penalized for any missed answers.

How is your writing?

If you're more confident in other skills besides writing, then you're in luck. The ACT Writing test is optional, although many universities do require it for admission.

How is your vocabulary knowledge?

Although neither the ACT nor the SAT tests your knowledge of vocabulary outright, the ACT tests less vocabulary than the SAT.

How's your math ability?

If you're not comfortable filling in answers to math questions on your own (no answer choices!) on 10 questions, then the ACT might be better for you. Every question on the ACT Math section has answer choices.
