The Books You Need for the ACT

From About.com

There are many ACT prep books on the market - which ones will you choose?

1. The Real ACT Prep Guide

Everyone needs The Real ACT because it's written by the makers of the ACT, and thus it's the only book on the market that contains authentic, previously administered ACT tests. Preparing by practicing on real tests is an essential component of test prep.

If you've retained the material that will be covered on the ACT, and just need to increase your speed and familiarity with the ACT, this may be the only book you need. You can simply take the 3 practice ACTs in this book, review your mistakes, and learn from the detailed explanations of the answers.

But The Real ACT is not very strong on review or test-taking strategies. if you need a thorough review of ACT material, also get the book below.

2. The ACT For Dummies

If you need to thoroughly review the material covered by the ACT, The ACT For Dummies is a great book to use. In my opinion, it teaches ACT material better than any other ACT prep book on the market. The lessons for each section of the ACT are very well written, and the book's strategies and tips will help you understand what to focus on as you prepare for the ACT.

The Downfall: it contains only one practice ACT test that is not very realistic, and that's why you need The Real ACT as well.
