The GRE General Test
The GRE General Test is taken by applicants to graduate schools in almost every field. It measures verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, analytical writing, and critical thinking skills - not specific subject material like the GRE Subject Tests. Theoretically these skills should have been developed throughout your education, but targeted test prep including practice and study will invariably lead to high scores.
GRE test-takers in the US and Canada take the computer-based test. Elsewhere, testers will take the paper-based test if the computer-based test is not available. Be sure to use preparation materials that are specific to the format of the test that you will take, because testing strategies differ greatly.
