Is the ACT Essay Computerized?
You will write your ACT essay on paper, with the same pencil you use to take the rest of the ACT. There is no option to type it on a computer instead. Because the ACT Writing Test is paper-and-pencil, there are certain strategies that will help you make the most of your time although you aren't able to easily edit and rearrange your essay.

ACT Standby Testing
If you want to take the ACT on a certain date but have already missed the normal and late registration deadlines, you can try standby testing. ACT standby testing will cost you an extra $39 in addition to regular ACT fees, but that may be worth it to you if you need to test by a certain date. But you may not be able to take the ACT on test day after all. You'll only be given a spot after all registered students are admitted to the ACT, as well as all other standbys who arrived before you.
